Jonathan Wesley Skaggs, 24, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, August 15, 1999 at Dempsey Branch Road, Wriston, WV.
Born February 4, 1975 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of Penny Cincinnati, Gary Skaggs, and Tommy Bibb.
He shares his Heavenly Home with maternal grandmothers, Zelpha Sparks, Patricia Cincinnati, Clara Cincinnati, Garnett Skaggs, and Dolly Bibb; and paternal grandfathers; Delbert Skaggs and Jack Bibb.
In addition to his parents he is survived by sisters Shawnea Alberston and husband, Ryan, and Christina DeLung and husband, Frankie; niece and nephews, Haden Alberston, Carson Alberston, Jacob DeLung, Joshua DeLung, and Raegan DeLung; maternal grandfather, John Cincinnati; paternal grandmother, Marilene Bibb; and maternal companion, Eugene Endicott.
Jon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and spent many warm summer days by the river. He was a car detailer and took pride in his work.
The family would like to give special thanks to Larry Harrah, Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney and his team for the hard work, long hours, and dedication put forth over the past few years as they worked tirelessly at an attempt for justice. We would also like to thank the late Steve Kessler, former Fayette County Sheriff and Circuit Clerk and his team. Steve spent the last 18 years to the time of his recent death pursuing leads and pushing for an indictment. After 16 years these two men and their teams were able to obtain an indictment against the person responsible for taking Jon’s life. Jon’s family will be forever grateful to all of the wonderful people who helped pursue justice along the way.
Although we do not understand God’s will, we do know that God promised all will be revealed in the end. We also know “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in his spirit.” “God promises to make something good out the storms the bring devastation to our lives.” In closing “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”.
Although Jon entered his eternal home 18 years ago his remains will finally be laid to rest on Saturday November 4, 2017.
The family of Jon extends an invitation to join them at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, on Saturday for visitation beginning at 12:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with John Wriston officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park Fayetteville.
