Jack Manning, 89, of Oak Hill, WV passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV
Born February 12, 1928 at Powelton, WV he the son of the late Roy Manning and Juanita Thacker Ayers.
Jack served in the WV National Guard for six years and was a sergeant. He was a former Fayette County Sheriff and a top sales manager at King Coal in Oak Hill. Jack was a member of the Oak Hill Lodge No. 120 A.F and A.M. and member and secretary of the Moose Lodge.
His wife, Betty Jo Kincaid Manning; step father, Denny Ayers, and sister, Dava Jean Lewis; and special nephew, David DeQuasi preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include loving daughters, Becky Plumb and husband, Robert, and Kimberly Smith and husband, Jesse "Skeeter"; son; Randy Douglas; granddaughter; Savannah Blevins; his companion, Lois Mahoney; special niece, Tina DeQuasi and several other nieces and nephews.
Jack touched so many lives throughout the years and each thought of him as a “dad.” He cherished each one as son: Garland Burke, Howard Hill, Everette Steele, Pat Tygrett and several other members of the Sheriff's department, Ralph “Campy” Burgess, David Mullens, Darrell Goff, Lawrence “Higgy” Higginbotham, Howard Weeks, Denny Cole, Rick Pannell, Butch Wykle, Moe Dixon, Bill Staples, Bill Craddock, Jim Huddnall, Ron Potter, Bob Mullens, Bobby Bragg, Charlie Tracy, Joe Sproles, Jim Stuppio and many more.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Jimmy Spack officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call two hours before service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
