Harmon Adair Davis went peacefully to his Heavenly Home after a short illness on Friday, March 23, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children in his home on Maple Fork Road. He was 91.
Harmon was born on January 17, 1927 and was preceded in death by his parents, Price and Emma Givens Davis; brothers Harry Davis and Haven Davis; and sister Francis Gallagher.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 70+ years, Jessie B. Davis , daughters, Lura Ann Wingate and her husband, Rodney E. Wingate, and Jan Louise Blackburn and her husband, Sandy John Blackburn; sons George Edwin Davis and wife, Ellen J. Davis, Michael Alan Davis and wife, Cathy A. Davis, and Thora Mark Davis and wife, Patricia G. Davis; thirteen grandchildren; one step grandchild; thirty three great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
Harmon was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a Minister / Evangelist for numerous churches. He was a mighty warrior with a heart of gold and was a friend to all that he met. He bestowed kindness and compassion to everyone and portrayed the perfect example of a servant’s heart. The legacy that he leaves behind is one of unconditional love, kindness and gratitude. We will strive diligently to honor that legacy and move forward living, loving and serving as he did.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Mabscott Baptist Church, 103 Dalton Street, Mabscott with Pastor Douglas Holley officiating . Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 between 11:30 and 1:00 PM.
