Braden Eugene Wolfe, 45, of Oak Hill, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2017, surrounded by his family in his home. Braden finished his race after a well fought battle with colon cancer for seven years.
Born on January 13, 1972 in Beckley, West Virginia, Braden was the son of Delmas and Nancy Wolfe of Oak Hill and Patricia and Kenneth Garrett of Fayetteville.
Braden loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Joe Aiello Basketball for several years. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved spending time with his son, hunting and fishing. In his last week he mustered the strength, with his son beside him (in a deer blind his son built to accommodate his needs) to harvest a buck.
He had compassion for children battling cancer. He met with multiple children to help encourage them and discuss treatments, ports, and side effects. He could not understand how the children endured the brutal effects of chemotherapy.
He was a member of Page Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board.
Braden was employed by Jan-Care Ambulance for twenty-four years where he was a mechanic and Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. He felt that EMS was part of the calling God had placed on his life. He always wanted to put helping others first over himself. He was loved and respected by all who worked for him.
Braden was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents , Albert and Maurine Wolfe as well as his maternal grandparents, Burlie and Maxine McClung.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories are his wife, Cindy Wolfe of Oak Hill, son ,Jerad Braden and wife ,Shelby Dawn Wolfe and two grandchildren, Braden Michael and Emma Jo Wolfe.
Braden had a special closeness with his brother in law, Rick and his wife , Jerri Hogan and their daughter, Ashely Hogan George.
Braden is survived by sister Tami, brother-in-law Chuck, and their children, Noah and Taylor; Kristin and Jeff Prater and their sons, Bo and Jude; Angie and David Goff and their sons, Luke and Landon; and Kenneth Lee Garrett. In addition, Braden will be remembered by his in-laws, Jerry and Sue Phillips of Scarbro. His memory will also be cherished by his grandmother, Patricia Lang.
A memorial service will be held for Braden on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church. Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. and the service will begin at 6 following the visitation.
